What is SDP? The Self-Determination Program lets eligible regional center clients choose their own services, providers, and supports, within an Individual Budget, instead of using only traditional vendor services. SDP was created by Senate Bill 468, signed in October 2013, and opened to all eligible clients on July 1, 2021. Its five principles are Freedom, Authority, Support, Responsibility, and Confirmation. A code does not guarantee funding. Funding depends on the IPP goal, Person-Centered Plan, Individual Budget, and Spending Plan, so confirm with an Independent Facilitator or service coordinator. Caliminds Launchpad is an independent provider, not an SDRC vendor, based in Poway and serving all of San Diego County.
